Ho Chi Minh City-Day 3

SIGHTSEEING
We decided to sign up for a 1 day trip to Mekong River.
Almost 2 hours car ride.
Next, took a speed boat to 4 island.
We visited the fruits garden where the first I saw a
Dragon fruit tree. (looks like a cactus)
Took a local boat ride the river.
And had lunch and walk a little on an island
where I see the lifestyle of this village people.
Cats, chicken and dogs all lived understand the same roof
in harmony.

FOOD
One of the islands on Mekong river we went to.
They are specialize in making coconut candies.
Comes in assorted flavors, peanut durian and etc.
Taste of course very yummy.
Beer and seafood are dirt cheap.
A plate of looks like miniature hotate (8 pcs) I had cost me
only SGD3!
I can never stop if I continue bragging how cheap the food is.

Ho Chi Minh City-Day 2

SIGHTSEEING
We signed up for a half day tour to Cu Chi Tunnel.
About 2 hours journey from HCM city.
We saw various types of traps made by the Cu Chi people
during war time against the US army.
The 210km tunnel was so tiny that I gave up walking through it
Yes, claustrophobia reason.

We also visited Saigon Post office today.

FOOD
Vietnamese popian!
Ok, first of all, I was never a big fan of this spring rolls.
I tried some in Singapore and they taste horrible.
Skin taste so plastic and I never like mint leaves so much.
But this ones I tried are vegetarian.
They taste so so yummy.
Change my perspective of Vietnamese spring rolls.
Forgot to mention, the fried spring rolls I had the
night before was also equally amazing.

Oh and Vietnamese really love jackfruits. :)

Ho Chi Minh City-Day 1

First time to Vietnam.
We decided to head south to the capital of Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh also known as Saigon.

TRAFFIC
I wasn't surprised to see so many motorists on the street
as I had been warned by many friends who been there.
Besides the bad air, I was amazed by the driving skills
of this motorists.
They ride their bikes base on 'no government' standard
meaning, they just go any directions they want and
zebra crossing and traffic lights there are just dummies
or decoration.
We have to be cautious crossing and even walking on the
pavement cos they do take short cuts there too. :(
After 2 or 3 rounds of scary experience, we more or less
master the skill of crossing the 'red sea'.

FOOD & DRINK
I didn't (can't) try the famous Vietnamese coffee.
Yohei ordered a kopi (coffee with milk).
He said its really nice though a bit strong.
The yellow tea served to us in the picture, I have no idea
what's that but taste really refreshing on a hot day.

I ordered noodles soup with shrimps and pork (pork for Yohei).
It was so so so good.
It's only SGD1!!!
Cannot believe it...

SIGHTSEEING
We didn't go to many places on day 1, only walking around the city
exploring parks, small streets.
But we did go to the War Remnants Museum.
After I left that place, I really want to read up more about
Vietnamese war history.

最近在看這本漫畫。
讲述了发生在一个小餐馆的故事。
餐馆只是在午夜十二點正開始營業。
在這里的菜单只有猪肉酱汤套餐一种。
但是老板可以根据客人的要求利用现有食材做出各种料理。
而且他还会和客人一起带出一个个充满人情味的故事。
真得很好看。
漫畫已經被改篇成動漫和日劇。

Amazing creation of GOD.
Reminds me in the midst of our uncertainties of the future or
a tough problem we might have and cannot resolve by ourselves.
We can trust God's faithfulness and His promise.

I finally got my own chili padi plant!
JH bought this for me last Friday.
And today I decided to pick (cut and never pluck out)
some fresh ones and bring to her house later.
I am going to eat her home-made dumplings with
this chili padi.
Yummy.

Chili plants needs sunlight and has to be watered everyday
to keep the soil moist but not overdoing it until it
rots the roots.

I kept it outside my flat.
If my neighbours want some to spice up their dishes,
by all means, they can help themselves. :D

1. Remove the fabric from the umbrella or can use any fabric you have.

2. Trace the frame.

3. Cut out the fabric and start sewing.

4. Sew and trim.

5. Apply the lining.

6. Turn the lining to the inside.

7. Apply the purse frame.

8. Done.

Purse Story- Part 1

I wanted to change my worn-out wallet.
It's a long army green wallet from Porter which has been
with me through thick and thing for more than 5 years.

Recently, I find coin purse is really nice to
be used as a 'wallet'.
I can put notes, coins and even come of my cards inside.
Coin purses come in cute frames and beautiful fabrics.
So if i am bored with one purse, I can always change to another
one, rotate design on alternate days.

This purses are easy to make.
Most important is the frame and the fabric.
There are many vintage frame selling online and
they are not very expensive.
So to save money and to have fun doing craft work.
I really don't mind making some nice purse for myself and
my friends too. :D

糖三角。

今天早上，起來的特別早。
蒸熱了个糖三角（糖包）當早餐吃。
那是來自家鄉大連的同事，ZL的媽媽做的。
給了我兩个。
第一次嘗試。

里頭包的是紅糖。
咬下蒸熱了後的包子，紅糖被融化成熱騰騰的糖水
就一直往包和我口里流出。
這東北包子和我們這裡吃到的很不一樣。
包皮一般都比較扎實，有彈性，QQ的，很有質感。
吃完後，肚子是包包的。:)

Retro run.

Lately, I felt in love with vintage running wears.

I find the current modern design of this sport attires
are just too much.
I mean literally TOO MUCH.
All the fancy highlighter colors, high-tec printed graphics and
strange 'die-cuts' designs which makes me wonder why they
were there in the first place...
Even one of my favorite brands, Adidas by Stella McCartney
also once a while shock me a little with their designs.

Ok, I know we are living in the 21st century.
But I think sometimes 'less is more' is a beauty.

Vintage running wears are usually a combination of
ultra short shorts, and singlets, yes I mean singlets.
Less fanciful materials like the present synthetic fabric.
Traditional runners singlets are usually made in cotton.

Errrr...Yes, COTTON.
Which is not a friendly fabric for runners on long distance.
Cotton tends to hold moisture, can get pretty heavy hanging on it
when 'soak' with sweat...

But.
Don't you think they just look so cool and comfortable?
How I wish some brands can seriously consider remaking this singlets
but using high-tec fabric...
But maybe it will not look nice compare with cotton?
I don't know.

And the shorts are amazing! Look cool and feel cool.
But for modesty and comfort reason, I prefer slightly longer ones. :)

The NIKE pix makes me have the urge to play ABBA's 'dancing queen' now.

PS: Lady in my montage is my favorite running superstar, Grete Waitz,
a Norwegian marathon runner and former world record holder
who died recently.

Today marked the 11th month of my training since the day I started running.

I looked at my a little worn-out running shoes.
and smiled at them, thanking them for bringing me to many places.

I knew that GOD wanted me to continue to run.
Guess running does make my mind more positive and focused.
Running also keeps me feel motivated, when I conquered a new distance.
Running became something I look forward to do everyday.

Actually, running was something I would never imagine I can do it
since I was born with a weak heart and my recent injured ankle.
But I did it! And know what, I am going strong each day.
Little by little.
I go further and further.

And recently, I read a book on running.
Author who has been a long time marathon runner for 26 years, said;

"It not how fast you can go, is how far you can go, that is more important,
unless you are in a race."

I totally agreed.
I think keeping a PR* is important.
But in order to be able to run long even when I am old.
Going slow but far is better than going fast and far at the same time.
It might not be too good for the body.

I look at marathon race in another perspective.
At the end of the day, it was never my purpose to 'beat' anyone
or break any of my PR.
Because they are always people who will be faster or slower than you.
To me, running is like chasing after a dream.
It's like overcoming a huge mountain after another.
Doing my very best, finishing the route ahead of me.

When comes to running, I am a tigress.
I am not talking about my running skill or PR.
But rather a fierce determination to overcome a long distance.
Never give up half way.
Never.

Plant resuscitation.

This cute little round leaves plants are not easy to maintain.
Like lotus, they needs lots of water and substantial sunlight.

The potted leaves was given to me by JH.
It was so full when I first received it.
But look at the state she is now...Sign.

But recently, JH gave me a beautiful skull design glass container.
I thoughts maybe its not a bad idea to re-pot my poor plants.
Cos' it's easier for the plant to get sunlight evenly in
a clear container.
And using water which the plants needs the most instead of soil.

The plants might have a higher chance to revive to its original beauty.
No harm trying.

Welcome 2012.

That thought was in my mind when I saw the last sheet
dating 31 Dec 2011 on my dad's Chinese Calendar.

I must say.
2011 has been a good year for me.

In Year 2012, I pray for good health for everyone.
I want to continue to run.
I want to be GOD's obedient and faithful child.
What else? That's all I can think of now.

Ok last but not least,
I got to say the very Ms beauty pageant's statement.

This year Christmas...
I received a big porcelain container and
a pair of gardening tools from Ms M and Ms V.

Yohei's Birthday cake.

I didn't bake this cake.
I only assembled the cake.
Everything was baked and prepared by Ms M.
Yes, our master chef. :D

First, I put lots of whipped cream on top
because Ms M's home-made whipped cream is very delicious.
Yohei and I love cream!

Next, instead of strawberries and blueberries.
I decided for a change, blackberries, they were placed on
top of the cream.
I realised too little so I added more in the end.
It turned out looking much better.

Last, is the icing sugar sprinkled sparingly onto the toppings.
DONE!

Know what?

This flour-less chocolate cake taste really awesome!

1. I generously spread lots of whipped cream on the cake.

2. (Top pix) Too little? (Bottom pix) A little more berries is better :D

3. Icing sugar on the toppings...Looks messy?
I couldn't find a nice big plain white plate at home...sad,
no choice got to use this green one instead.

So what if I am a self-declared artist.
I had my solo exhibition.
I had a drawing blog.
I was on newspaper.
I was interviewed and featured in a mag.
I am sure I am 'qualified'. :D

It's just that this 'really not so humble' artist
didn't draw for a very LONG time.(Except for work).
Why? Pure laziness...
Ok, got to pick up my paper, pens and start drawing now.

Walk after the rain-part 2

Plants from the wild need a good 'shower'.
Then, they are being placed in recycled glass bottles.
But those with leaves and roots that run in a 'chain' would
need to be placed in a more shallow containers.
And just enough water to cover their roots and not more than that
which might rots the leaves.
I hope my mum won't nag at me if she saw me using her metal
plate from her kitchen.
Its just temporary, will return after I find a nicer container. :D

Walk after the rain-part 1

I was waiting and kept looking out my window today.
Waiting for the rain to stop.
Why? Because I want to bring my Birthday present from Ms M,
the set of miniature gardening tools for a 'walk'. :D

Rain stopped at 4.30pm.
So I took my camera, my tools, plastic bag and set off for a
'green adventure'.

The journey is actually my running route.
But because I usually run at night in darkness so I couldn't get a
good chance to look at the plants at the side of the path
where I always run by.

It was so cooling to walk after the rain, taking pictures and
picking up plants.
Today's highlight is the 'frog feet' leaves.
Ms M has some of this leaves which she plucked them near our office.
Usually they are quite small.
But this ones I found are really really big!
I think its almost double or even triple the size of those we picked
from outside our office.
I just couldn't help it but took home plenty. :D

I also came across a tree full of green fruits.
Wonder if its a mango tree cos fruit looks rather small.
Along the way, I found some more interesting leaves
to add on to my current collection.

I am satisfied with my pick after walking for about 1.5 hours. :D
Except there is always a price to pay.
Mosquitoes bites... :(

I am sure I am not the only girl in Singapore find its
really hard to buy a nice bikini here.

I have been looking for an ideal 2 piece swim wear perfect
for a beach trip.
But I just couldn't find the right one.
It's either they are too expensive or the prints are just boring
or rather the usual dated floral prints.

And I wanted stripes prints.

Then I found this online.
Everything is perfect.
The stripes, the style (not too revealing).
Someone like me who is not busty and a little sporty kind.
This 2 piece wear is just so me. :D

Ummmm...
If only I found this earlier for my recent Gili island trip...
No choice.
Will keep it for my next beach trip then.

2. Magic Mushrooms (no one dare to try)
3. Rocky dead corals that cut our skin.
4. Yummy BBQ prawns and Snapper. (Squid tasted better than calamari)
5. Salty hotel swimming pool water.
6. Sometimes hot sometimes cold shower water.
7. Horse carts. (Horses are so cute!)
8. Sea Urchin shell. (First time seeing them with the porky pins)
9. Fresh vegetables and fruits. (Rambutan and mangos so sweet!)
10. Sea with 3 tones of blue.
11. Sand is irritating to us, the cyclists. (It sinks us down...)

Off a control a little...

In order not to affect my performance during the race.
I have been controlling my diet for about 2 months
to maintain certain weight.

Cut all sugar and fat.

But right after the race yesterday...
I ate 2 prata.
And Ms M brought me a yummy dark chocolate cake.
Came at the right time. :P
Heeeeeee...

The run before end of 2011.

I woke up at 2.45am and couldn't sleep any further.
Guess I was too excited.
Because this is my first time running a 10km
and the first time running in a Standard Chartered marathon (SCM).

The sky was still not very bright at 6.30am when I reached the
starting point at Esplanade Drive.
But consider good weather since the last few day, tends to rain in
the morning.
My cellphone was small enough to put in my shorts pocket.
Therefore I could take some pictures before the hound sound.

10km race took off at 7.17am.
There were 16,000 10km runners running side by side.
I had a great time watching others and of course
not forgetting to focus my breathing...
and complete the race at 8.30am.
Not very good but no choice...
cos I accidentally strained my right rib cage between the 2.5km to 3km.
It was so painful.
and pain really handicapped me...
But thank GOD, I manage to regain my strength and head up at 5km point.
And next minute I know, I have reached the finish point.

It was fun.
But I will not run SCM in singapore again.
Because it will be the same route and same scenic.
Will be very boring...
So my next SCM 10km run will be in June 2012, Kuala Lumpur.

Julie & Julia love cooking.

Ms M has a super overdue movie DVD she was supposed to return.
I was curious.
So I went to search my movie archive for Julie & Julia which I
downloaded sometimes back but couldn't find time to watch.

And after watching it this afternoon, I finally know why.

Every part of this movie is beautiful.
The 1940's settings in Paris.
The relationships.
The humor.
The cooking.
And I must say great performance from Meryl Streep and
Amy Adams.
Especially Meryl Streep, she really 'wow' me.

I am going to watch this movie again.
And maybe read the book as well.

If you happen to be at a rental shop, pick this movie DVD
and I am sure you will not be regretted.

Enjoy.

Because of Ms M.
I came to know about “the Picasso of Pastry” Pierre Hermé.
I don't know so much about baking or rather I am not so interested
about the baking process.
But I appreciate an artistic created cake.
The final presentation.
The taste that go with it.
I only eat cake.

Love Pierre Hermé.
He revolutionizes.
He is not 100% traditional.
He is for sure innovative in all his creations.
And most important he uses sugar like salt, in other words, as a seasoning.
That means he does not use too much sugar in all his bakes. (So Ms M :D)
Oh I love him!!!!

I want to visit his shop at 72 rue Bonaparte when I go to Paris.
Or maybe one of his 9 shops in Tokyo.

Yummy.

I believe.
People who are into sports.
Are sadists.
Especially runners.

If you ever watch at people who are running.
They are never smiling or look enjoying.
That's because running is painful to a certain extend.

Heart pounding hard and shortage of breath.
legs are so painful.
Throat is so dry.
Head turn blank.
Feel like whatever that left in you are all drained out.
Despite all that, people still keep running.
Why?
Simply because we enjoy it.
Sense of satisfaction.
No words can describe.

This is exactly how I am feeling after running for last 8 months.
I did my 'virgin 5km race' in July and next in less than
5 days, I will be standing along with thousands of men and women
runners at the 2011 Standard Chartered Marathon race.

How am I feeling now?
Relax.
Because I have been doing 5 days a week training.
I have already done my best.
Now is just relax till the race on 4 Dec.

Without GOD, I wouldn't have gone this far.
So I want to dedicate this 10km race to GOD.
I want to run this for Him in honor of His faithfulness
in keeping me safe during my training.

Thank You Lord.
I will go go go!!!

I started to notice them whenever I go.

Cos' they are just practically everywhere.

while at the same time, finishing my balance 3km run.
Maybe I looked silly running with the plants.

My interest on plants has moved to snails as well.

Picked up this giant African snail when I was jogging near some bushes.
Consider a medium size, smaller than the last one I saw few months back.
Couldn't resist my curiosity.
I took it home together with some small leaves.
Only to realize my husband is equally fond of the snail.
And equally curious.

We both spend the whole night watching it eating the leaf up and
chewing a small bit of apple I left there.
Amazing creature.
At first, we wanted to keep the snail at home and even intend to build
a home for it.
But after Yohei found out from internet that this African snails carry some
kind of bacteria which can be fatal to human bodies if contacted.
We decided to bring it back to it's natural habitat.

PS: I still cannot imagine the french eat them...
errrrrrrr...

I have never been to Europe.
Reason being Europe is always seems so expensive to me.
Or I just couldn't find enough leave to go away.
No one to travel with me.
I want to save it for honeymoon.
Blah blah blah...

It's time to go now or it will be never
Cos I have been talking about it for the longest time.
My desire to go to Paris became stronger after I came to know
the Louvre museum.

Block 148 garage

Mum came home this morning and told me she saw
a wooden cabinet next to my block's elevator.
Without thinking twice, I asked mum together and went down
to check it out.
Ok it's vintage.
Teak wood bedside cabinet with 2 drawers.
Pretty good condition.
Happy. :D

Old flat like mine, people usually own many good old things at home.
and this time of the year, I suspect more furnitures will be thrown out.
Hahahaha, lucky for me.
Will keep a lookout.

Leila Menchari has been responsible for creating this
beautiful window displays for the Maison Hermès,
24 rue du Faubourg Saint Honore in Paris,
as well as designing some of its most iconic scarves.
This woman really has an eye for details.

Amazing displays...
When you have the $$$$ to splurge and the resources...
I am sure you can have ANYTHING you can think of to create
magical moments.
I wish I could also have a chance to create such an impact in
my creative work in future.

My in laws came to visit Singapore from 2 to 5 Nov.
This was their first time to Singapore.
Except Sister Natsuko who came to Singapore during her high school day.

I always wanted them to meet my family.
However, they couldn't come to attend my wedding in February.
This time, they all could finally meet.
Despite cultures and languages difference,
everyone could still enjoy each other company and chatting.
Of course, with Yohei and I busy interpreting :D.

Rest of the trip,
We went to National Museum, Sentosa, Zoo, Chinatown, Arabs street
and Little India.
We had Indian food and Chinese food.
I also brought them to eat seafood at Lau Pa Sa and drink cold Tiger beer.
Everyone seems to enjoy.
I was really really glad. :D

Very down to earth family.
I could totally at ease and enjoy sight-seeing with them.
Hope to see them again,
be it in Singapore or Sapporo.

It's 5.30am on a Sunday morning now.
And I am looking at the website of Japanese cookery writer Harumi Kurihara.

Came to know her through a live cooking programme from NHK 2 months ago.
Found her face familiar...
Ahhhh...then, I remember she appeared on some cook books cover I saw the last time.

This petite (rather skinny) and graceful looking lady cook really simple, easy and
most important really healthy dishes.
Someone like me who loves Japanese simple and non-oily food, just can't help
falling in love with her very homely recipes.

Beside doing live cooking shows and releasing numerous cook books,
Harumi also owns a few restaurants in Japan and home ware shops.
she even created her own seasonings and sauces.
And know what? she is already 64 years old!!!
Guess must be the healthy diet...

Can't wait to grab her cooking book "Everyday with Harumi".

I saw my parent in-laws and sister in-law's studio wedding photo displayed.

I was never a cutie girl.
Even Tsumori Chisato's clothes, I am still a little selective.
And franche lippee?
Never come across my mind, only knew its Ms V's favourite brand.
Its quite similar to Tsumori Chisato's style or vice versa.
Curious.
So I asked her to bring me to the shop in Tokyo.
And...
I actually bought this jeans short and I wore it today.
Price not cheap but for the sake of the beautiful embroidery.
Worth it.
This is one of my best buy in this tokyo trip.

I made a trip back to Hokkaido with yohei to attend my sister in law,
Natsuko's wedding in Sapporo.
The wedding took place at a chapel cum French restaurant.
I would say the place is lovely and with high ceiling and glass window interior
surrounded with lots green in fact all green.
I could imagine when the leaves turn red in Autumn...

Though this is not my 1st time meeting my in laws.
It was the 1st time for me to meet the rest of the family.
Yohei's relatives.
At first, I was a little taken by everyone being so excited when they see me.
I guess I am a foreigner and a new face to them.
All of a sudden I became the centre of attraction and like a super star
when everyone came to take pictures with me or of me.
Despite that, I was touched to meet everyone cos they are really very friendly
and kind though I couldn't communicate with them so much in Japanese
yet they still try their best to speak a little English.
Really appreciate and thank you everyone.
I did enjoy myself very much that night.

After the wedding ended, there was a small gathering at a western restaurant
in the hotel we stayed in.
A small party to welcome me into the family.
All the relatives attended and Yohei gave a small speech
(brief introduction) of me.
There was a cake and everyone drinks and talked till late.
I was exhausted...
But I was touched...
For the first time, I felt I had really become a wife and a daughter in law.
Amazing feeling.
I will keep this day a good memory in my life.
Thank you.

Happy Birthday!

Today, I woke up very early because of the rain.
"Wow I don't need to go office today!"
and it's my Birthday today. :D
I was happy.

Yohei asked me few days ago what I would like to eat on my Birthday.
So I told him Temaki Sushi which I had at Jo's place recently.
I want to eat that again. Salmon and Sanma!!!
So Yohei cooked the rice, went to Mediya and bought the Sashimi.
And we had Temaki Sushi in his room.
It was yummy and we were satisfied!

After that, we had the chocolate cake Yohei bought for me.
Then my Birthday present.
I got a porcelain cat water pot and a drawing of me. :)
Guess I have been using one very 'not so happening looking' recycled bottle
to water my plants, time to change...heeee.

To pamper myself, suppose to go out a little shopping and massage today.
But lazing at home is soooooo good.
Going out...make me think twice...

I never felt so energetic and alive now compare to my early 30s.

Recently, I was been asked casually from friends about when I will become a mother.
I never thought so much about children, especially having my own. Having a child
was never the reason why I decided to get married. And I am glad Yohei has no
such intention (yet) too.

I guess to me, being a mother is always about timing. Mentally prepared is
so important and I can be sure I am not at the moment. Age to me is not an issue.
Even if one day I am in my 40s, Just like Abraham and Sarah, God gave Sarah
a child at the age of 70 or 80? So I really believe if I am ready, God will
give me a child. He will bless me one even if I may be in my 40s.
I would say, in regardless of age (even if I am in my 40s), pressure from
family or husband's request, if my mind is not ready, my answer is still "no".

Maybe people might think I am selfish but this is me. I always believe a
mother and a child has a special bonding between them, though husband can
give support but its very different kind of attention. At the end of the day,
the responsibility still lie heavily on the mother. My responsibility and
attention towards my family (obligated) and husband have already taken part
of my life. Would I want to sacrifice additional time and for another
family member? Life time? Currently, I think I cannot.

Guess, I am just being selfish and too individualist. I don't deny it.

I really respect all the mothers around me. Truly respect them.
Being a mother is not easy at all though I cannot fully understand now
but I really believe the courage and decision they choose to make to
become mothers is amazing.

So to all mothers, I salute to you.

What shall I grow inside the new container I had received from Joanne recently.
Something short and cute would be perfect.
Then I decided to 'steal' some green beans from the kitchen.
I didn't expected the plants can grew up to this height.
So I took out some of the taller ones and 'migrate' them to an ex-fruit jam glass jar.

When I couldn't even find time to read my new books.
When I couldn't even stay a minute long in a conversation with a friend

When I am sick and couldn't even have time to rest well.
When I have to perform miracles and work like an multi-tasked octopus
and do many things in the office.

Frankly speaking...

I hate such a life.

Sometimes busy is good but when time spent on work started to eat into
my private time...

It's really not worth it.

What can I do? I do have a choice for sure...

I sure this craft is no stranger to you.
I used to do this during my Primary school days.
Bought fabric paint a month ago but didn't have the time to start printing something.
And finally today, I could try this at home.
What can I say? It was so fun.
What did I print on? Sorry, secret. :P

Mushrooms with fish meat.

I believe I am one of those who think nothing on this earth
can beat our mummies cooking.
My mum hardly cooks nowadays but she decided to cook dinner today. :D
So I requested mum to prepare my all-time favourite, mushrooms stuffed with fish meat.
I have been eating this dish since I was a kid.
Mum will pan-fry the stuffed mushrooms then use oyster sauce to re-fry them again.
It was so yummy until I forgotten to take a picture of the cooked dish...hahaha.

P.S: She has to make another batch with pork for my dad who doesn't eat fish. :D

Bike case

Just before I could take a nice picture of my black bicycle
and post it online for sale.
Yohei met a 'hit and run' case yesterday and my black bike landed up like this.
Front wheel was twisted...
He is fine.
We reported this case to the police the 2nd time.
Why 2nd time?

Actually, on the day before, he was hit by a taxi driver at Bukit Timah road
on the way back from his tuition.
We made a police report.
I could not believe, only less than 24 hours, we got to visit the NPP again...
Same road again, taxi again.

I imagine myself lately that I was in a dark tunnel. There isn't any source of light ahead for me to find my way out. Despite that, I did not give up but kept walking, hoping I could find my way out...But no matter how hard I try, try and keep trying to walk, I still couldn't find the light...

Love can give us joy and hope in life but there are times, love can also tear your heart apart. Love can make us tired and lose the meaning of life (sound serious) but its true. Why is it so hard for 2 person to live in harmony? Communication breakdown? Culture difference? Or just characters clash?

Is it really so hard for a man and a woman who used to be so much in love to fall apart because of all the above factors? Where should be the line drawn between 2 people of many differences living together?

I really don't know now...

The big mountain ahead of me seems to be getting bigger and bigger. I tried my best but it seems like the mountain never become a hill instead it has grew bigger than ever...I have lost the strength to climb over by myself...just by myself, I really cannot do it...

I am tired...and can I give up?

Because JH needs to buy a dress for her wedding in October,
Ms M, JH, FL and I checked out a vintage shop at Bukit Purmei this afternoon.
Pretty JH tried on a few dresses and mostly looks good on her.
And finally she decided on a long bluish flowy V-neck dress. :D
Then, I also tried on a dress while waiting for JH.
This look is styled by power Creative Director, Ms M. Hahahahhaah
Not bad right?...And of course photography by her too.
It was a fun day today.
Reminds me of the 'girl dressing up' time I used to have with my friends

Penang-Day 3 (last)

Yohei and I had dim sum breakfast.
Yohei said we should walk to the ferry terminal near our guesthouse.
Yohei and I decided to take the free ferry to Butterworth.
Yohei wanted to go to some temple. I suggested Penang Bird Park.
Yohei and I really enjoyed Bird Park.
Yohei thinks he saw many birds whom he had never seen before in Japan.
Yohei loves Penang Bird Park.
Yohei and I also had cendol at a indian hawker along the road, opposite the Bird Park.
Yohei didn't notice...I saw sticky rice in the cendol. Very interesting, taste good!
Yohei and I left Butterworth and went to Kek Lok Si Temple.
Yohei wanted to see the temple, I just accompanied him.
Yohei and I had Penang Laksa after we left temple.
Yohei and I went back guesthouse and say 'bye bye' to meow meow chan.

Ps: meow meow chan is a very cute and vocal male cat who always hang around outside our guesthouse. Really friendly cat, feel like bringing him home.

Penang-Day 2

I saw the toast shop near our guesthouse alone Lebuh Chulia.
I ordered butter sugar toast and tea with milk and shared with Yohei.
I couldn't believe it was so yummy and cheap.
I am lucky to be able to taste such authentic and so homely breakfast. :D
I planned today's schedule to Batu Ferringgi where the beach is.
I also wanted to go to The Spice Garden and Butterfly Farm.
I brought mini egg tarts and green tea steam cakes to eat as snacks at the beach.
I was a little disappointed when we reached the beach. There is nothing.
I discovered a waterfall on the way to Telok Bahang.
I tried not to burst out laughter when Yohei broke his blue flipflop.
I helped him to take out a string from an unwanted trousers left at the waterfall.
I was amazed to see Yohei use the string to hold his broken flipflop to his foot.
I walked walked walked for about 1km to The Spice Garden.
I was hungry when we reached The Spice Garden.
I took lunch with Yohei at a Malay store opposite The Spice Garden.
I ordered Fried rice with sotong and fried bee hoon.
I really think The Spice Garden is must to go.
I think everyone must be prepared to be bitten by mosquitoes.
I think we were like sacrificial lambs to the mosquitoes.
I also like Butterfly farm. Very educational and so close to the butterflies.
I really enjoyed.
I went back to Lebuh Carnarvon and we had dinner at a hawker.
I ordered Lor Mee and Fried Kway Teow and of course they were yummy.

Penang-Day 1

We reached Penang early morning on 28 July.
We had prawn noodles from a street hawker at George town.
We walked around George town looking for suitable guesthouse.
We finally could find one humble guesthouse at RM25 per night.
We went to Amelie cafe later.
We had brownie with ice-cream and orange lemongrass ice blended.
We decided to go to Penang Hill so we took a bus.
We took a tramp up the hill.
We really enjoy the nature and great view of Penang island on the hill.
We walked on the hill for 3 hours and saw many houses and a cottage.
We started to sing Hayao Miyazaki's anime song because of the cottage.
We love Penang Hill.
We left the hill and had our late lunch at a hawker down the hill.
We ordered chicken mushroom kway teow and a gula melaka peanut cake.
We felt like we are in heaven because the food really taste super good.

Some information:
• Take public bus 204 to George Town if you arrived at Sungai Nibong bus interchange.
• From George Town, bus 204 also takes you to the Penang Hill railway station at Air Itam.
• Amelie cafe is a must to go.

Auntie placed my vege on the weighing machine.
P: How much?
Auntie: Ok lah, $1.
P: Ah ok (Taking money out from my wallet) oh, I don't need plastic bag.
But, auntie still pulled out a red plastic bag behind her and put vege in it.
P: Errrr... I really don't need plastic bag. (I took out the vege and
returned the plastic bag to her.)
Auntie: Hey, you are making me very difficult la...(she looked displeased)
P: I already said I don't need.
Auntie: Ai yah, I don't charge you $ for the plastic bag lah...
P:...
I walked away.

I have never met anyone like her who is so 'generous' with plastic bag. :D
For ECO reason, I hope she understands some customers would prefer not to use
plastic bag.

SHAPE run 2011

I woke up this morning at 5.45am.
Put on the blue Reebok top and my 01388 tag.
I was ready.
Nicoll highway was packed with many people.
Everyone in blue so it was really nice.
The 10km started at 7am sharp,
whereas my 5km kick off the start at 7.35am.
The route was scenic and I was really enjoying myself.
All the time, I was watching, watching and watching. :D
Watching interesting people running in front of me, besides me.
Watching the surroundings.
I was glad that the 3 month training came worthy.
I could run the 5km smoothly.
I thank GOD for keeping me safe and protecting my heart and ankle.
